Maryland Professor Shibley Telhami at Ambassador Richard Jones' Residence

On Friday, January 13, at the residence of Ambassador Richard Jones, University of Maryland Professor Shibley Telhami, discussed "Public Opinion in the Arab World: Consequences for the Arab-Israeli Conflict and the Middle East," with an Israeli audience drawn from universities and research centers around the country. Professor Telhami's presentation was based on opinion polls conducted in October 2005 in Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and United Arab Emirates, and covered a broad range of topics of interest in the region. Professor Telhami is the Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace Development at the University of Maryland. Among his many affiliations, he has been a member of the State Department's Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, the Council on Foreign Relations, and an advisor to the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations. An excellent communicator, Professor Telhami provided his Israeli audience with keen insights through his research in the Middle East.
