Professor Robert D. Johnson, Fulbright Distinguished Chair for the Humanities, Tel Aviv University

Friday, February 22, 2008

On February 22, 2008, Counselor for Public Affairs Andrew Koss hosted a program with Prof. Robert D. (KC) Johnson, Professor of History, Brooklyn College, and Fulbright Distinguished Chair for the Humanities, Tel Aviv University (2007-8).

Prof. Johnson spoke about "President Lyndon B. Johnson's Secret Six-Day War Tapes Revealed."  The lecture, accompanied by broadcast of President Johnson's conversations with key interlocutors, was attended by specialists in American Studies, politics and history, as well as students from the Argov Program in Leadership and Diplomacy, at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya.  Dr. Johnson's lecture and the discussion that followed shed new light on President Johnson's attitude towards Israel and the Jewish people, and added an interesting dimension to the history of US-Israeli diplomatic relations, which this year marks 60 years.
