On April 11, 2006, Ambassador Richard Jones hosted a Distinguished American Speaker program at his residence featuring a joint presentation by Ellen Laipson, President, the Stimson Center, and Dr. Henri Barkey, Chair, Department of International Relations, Lehigh University. In presentations which complemented each other, Ms. Laipson and Dr. Barkey analyzed the dilemmas posed by the political and security situations in Iran and Iraq and how the challenges to U.S. policy formulation have been affected by the two neighboring countries. The discussion also centered on Iran's nuclear program and the range of possible responses. Ambassador Jones responded to the joint presentation and opened up the discussion.
