REMARKS BY
SECRETARY MADELEINE ALBRIGHT
Hadassah Hospital, Mt. Scopus, Jerusalem
September 10, 1997
SECRETARY ALBRIGHT: Thank you for letting me come and see you
and to really have a chance to see real people with tremendous
injuries and the difficulties under which you live.
You know, it's something that we in the United States, we see the
photographs, the pictures of the accidents, the horrible
terrorist acts take place. And then, when you actually see the
people and understand each individual injury, I think it brings
it home much more.
It's obviously very moving, but it's also, I have to say, very
moving to see the bravery of the people here. You can see in
their eyes that they are ready for a new life here. They are
working very hard to rehabilitate themselves and it is up to us
to try to create a situation where they can then be comfortable
to come back and be in a place that is secure and at peace. So
it's very personal. Thank you all very much.
