The Vice President Of The United States Richard Cheney
And Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon
VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY: I want to begin by thanking you, Prime Minister, for the tremendous hospitality that you have shown to me and to my wife and our entire delegation. I was delighted to have the opportunity to reaffirm the strength in America's commitment to the security and wellbeing of our friends in Israel. The Prime Minister and I have discussed a wide range of issues including our cooperation in the war against global terror and our share and concern about the spread of weapons of mass destruction. We reviewed ways in further strengthening our bilateral relationship and how the United States can continue to support the expansion of economic opportunities for Israelis. We also discussed ways of ending the terror and the violence that have brought so much suffering for the people of this region, especially during the last eighteen months.

Mrs. Lynne Cheney at YMCA
MRS. CHENEY: It is nice of you all to come out here this morning and I think it took you some time to get here. It is a great pleasure for me to visit schools wherever I go and I have visited schools all around the world. I love seeing what little children are doing, but this school, of course, makes an especially important statement in troubled times about how people have common aspirations and little children all like to work with clay whether they happen to be Arab or Israeli, whether they happen to be Jewish or Hebrew or Jewish or Christian or Muslim. So, it was a heartening thing to see in troubled times these little children all learning together.

VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY: Thank you Mr. President. It's a pleasure to be back in Egypt once again, and to have the opportunity to again be hosted by President Mubarak. I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit Egypt a great many times over the years, and count President Mubarak a longtime friend. He and I have worked closely together on many occasions over the years, and most recently saw each other in Washington, just a short time ago.
