Iftar Dinner

ضيوفنا الكرام - مساء الخير ورمضان كريم.

·         Honored guests - good evening and Ramadan Kareem.

 

زوجتي جوان وانا مسروران بوجودكم معنا لنتشارك وجبة الافطار خلال شهر رمضان المبارك.

·         My wife Joan and I are delighted to have you with us to share an Iftar meal during this blessed month of Ramadan.

 

كما تعلمون ، ان شهر رمضان هو شهر للعرفان بالجميل ، التسامح ، والاحسان. انها مناسبة للناس من جميع الاديان ليعبروا عن القيم المشتركة لنا جميعا والتي تتضمن تعزيز الروابط العائلية, التفاني للمجتمع, الالتزام بالحرية الدينية والعيش المشترك.

·         As you know, Ramadan is a time for gratitude, forgiveness, and charity.  It offers an opportunity for people of all faiths to reflect on the values we hold in common – including strengthening the bonds of family, devotion to community, and a commitment to religious freedom and co-existence.

 

التفهم الصحيح لرمضان ، يحمل رسالة يمكن للشعب الامريكي أن يفهمها بسهولة. تاريخ الولايات المتحدة يشهد العمل المشترك للعائلات والمجتمعات والديانات المختلفة معا من اجل الصالح العام. التعددية في أمريكا ساهمت في جعل الامة اقوى وانجح لجميع مواطنيها.

 

·         Ramadan, properly understood, carries a message the American people can readily understand.  The history of the United States is a story of families, communities, and different faiths working together for the common good.  America’s diversity has made for a stronger and more successful nation for all of its citizens.

 

ان الاسلام وانصاره يعتبران عنصرا هاما من التعددية الأمريكية, ونحن نعتبر ان العقيدة الاسلامية هي واحدة من التقاليد الدينية العظيمة في العالم.

·         Islam and its adherents are an important element of America’s diversity, and we recognize the Islamic faith as one of world’s great religious traditions.

 

هنا, في هذه البلاد, نحن نمر الان في مفترق حرج في البحث عن السلام. نأمل ان الجهود الجاريه للوزيره رايس ستساعد على تسهيل الاتزام من قبل القادة الاسرائيليين والفلسطينيين, لتحقيق هدف قيام دولتين تعيشان جنبا الى جنب بسلام وأمن.

·         Here, in this land, we are at a critical juncture in the search for peace.  We hope that Secretary Rice’s ongoing efforts will help facilitate a commitment on the part of Israeli and Palestinian leaders to achieve the goal of two states living side by side in peace and security.

 

قد تكون هذه الخطوة الاولى نحو السلام في المنطقة برمتها. واعتقد جازما أنه بامكان المجتمع العربي في اسرائيل ان يلعب دورا فريدا في هذا المسار كجسر بين اسرائيل والعالم العربي.

 

·         This may well be a first step toward peace throughout the region.  I firmly believe that the Arab community in Israel can play a unique role in this quest by serving as a bridge between Israel and the Arab world.   

 

اجتماعنا الليلة من يهود وعرب, مسلمين, مسيحيين ودروز يدل على ان الناس من ذوي الارادة الحسنه من مختلف الاديان والثقافات باستطاعتهم بالتاكيد الاحتفال سويا، و في النهاية, العيش معا في وفاق ووئام.

·         Tonight’s gathering of Jews, Arab Muslims, Christians, and Druze demonstrates that people of good will from diverse religions and cultures can indeed celebrate and, ultimately, live together in harmony.

 

نحن في السفارة الامريكية ملتزمون بتحقيق الهدف النهائي للسلام والمصالحة. وسنواصل جهودنا لتشجيع وجود قناة اتصال مفتوحة بين اليهود والعرب في اسرائيل والمنطقة بأسرها.

 

·         We at the American Embassy are committed to achieving the ultimate goal of peace and reconciliation.  We will continue our efforts to encourage an open channel of communication between Jews and Arabs in Israel and throughout the region.

 

بالتأكيد ، ان السلام والوئام بين الطوائف في اسرائيل الممثل هنا هذا المساء, يمكن وينبغي ان يكون نموذجا للعلاقات المستقبلية لاسرائيل مع فلسطين ومع الدول الاخرى فى المنطقة.

·         Certainly, the peace and harmony among the communities in Israel represented here tonight can and should serve as a model for Israel’s future relations with Palestine and with other states in the region.
