FEDERAL BENEFITS AND VETERANS' SERVICESTel Aviv Federal Benefits Unit will no longer be accepting SS-5’s (Social Security Number applications) from people who reside outside of our consular district, as of April 1, 2008. If you reside in the municipality of Jerusalem, the West Bank or Gaza, please apply at the U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem (http://jerusalem.usconsulate.gov).
The Federal Benefits Unit provides assistance with:
- Filing for first-time Social Security numbers;
- Filing claims for retirement, survivors and disability benefits;
- Filing Veterans Administration claims for compensation, pension, education, survivor and burial benefits;
- Medicare enrollments and cancellations;
- Beneficiary status change transactions, i.e., notice of changes of addresses, non-receipt of payment, etc.;
- Earnings record inquiries;
- Appointment of representative payees for incapable beneficiaries; and
- Assistance in obtaining birth, marriage, divorce and death records and medical evidence when necessary to submit claims.
