Notice to American Citizens

The American Embassy in Tel Aviv is taking a number of actions to reduce the waiting time for American citizens in Israel who wish to register the birth of their children. To reduce the wait time, which now can be as long as four months, the Embassy is doing the following:

  • Increasing the number of appointments it offers daily for this service, through the Embassy’s American Citizen Services online appointment system.
  • Expediting appointments for families with an urgent need to travel.
  • Removing hundreds of duplicate appointments from the system, and making those appointment times available to applicants who need them.
  • Investigating claims that certain unscrupulous individuals have taken large blocks of appointments and then are selling them to individuals seeking earlier appointments.

The Embassy urges all American citizens in Israel who are seeking appointments to register the birth of a child to make only one such appointment, and to not pay middlemen who offer appointment slots for a fee.  There is no charge to use the Embassy’s online appointment system for American Citizens Services.

Although the current wait time is four months, we are continually adding new appointment slots for earlier dates.

Thank you for your patience.
